The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes :: The Unfortunate Tobacconist

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are drawn into a grim little mystery surrounding a London tobacco shop with a deadly reputation.

In “The Unfortunate Tobacconist,” three men connected to the same East End shop have met suspicious ends, leaving behind fear, gossip, and the unmistakable scent of murder. When Holmes begins sorting fact from superstition, he finds that even the smallest storefront can hide a dangerous secret.

Starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson, this 1945 episode of The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes delivers classic radio deduction with a darker street-corner atmosphere — fog, footsteps, and just enough tobacco smoke to make the evidence curl.
